The Newport Jazz Festival, was founded by jazz pianist George Wein in 1954 as the first outdoor music festival of its kind devoted entirely to jazz, and is now universally acknowledged as the grandfather of all jazz festivals.

Scheduled to appear on Saturday August 4 are: Pat Metheny Unity Band, Bill Frisell, Dianne Reeves, Jack DeJohnette All-Stars, Joe Lovano and Dave Douglas Quartet, The Bad Plus, James Carter Organ Trio, Dafnis Prieto Sextet, Darcy James Argue's Secret Society, Christian McBride, John Ellis & Double Wide, Pedrito Martinez Group.
